My goal for spring break was to finish writing my letter and get it sent out, which is thankfully complete, but I seriously underestimated the amount of time and effort it takes to ready 95 envelopes for delivery. But it was kind of cool to think that each one was going a potential person or family who could reach out to me, even if they only know me very vaguely, and to think how they will receive and respond to the letter. I was really surprised at the length and diversity of my list as well -- there have been a lot of people I have known in different ways through my church, school and work, so while "namestorming" I was actually really surprised at how many people I know who are Christians.
Physically getting my letters ready calmed me a bit about the huge task I have to accomplish in the next month. As of now, I'm really not stressing, but have been saying a quick prayer every time I feel myself getting worked up about it. It was nice to be home while working on it, to see friends & acquaintances I hadn't seen in awhile, reminding me that I have a community at home who is supporting me.
Tomorrow the envelopes will be in the mailbox and whisked off by postal services to various Californian suburbs, as well as a couple midwestern destinations. They will be, quite literally, out of my hands. Continuing to pray that God had gone ahead and prepared the hearts of each person who will read each letter, and that He will keep my heart calm and centered. Another HUGE step closer to getting myself to Ocean City this summer!
